Jagannathism is a sub-denomination of Vaishnavism, one of the major sects of Hinduism that is dedicated to the Lord Vishnu/Narayana or the different incarnations and forms of Lord Vishnu. Jagannathism is often conflated with Odia Vaishnavism. Lord Jagannath, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is worshipped as the supreme deity in Jagannathism along with his brother Balabhadra and sister Devi Subhadra. Lord Jagannath has regional prominence largely in the Indian state of Odisha. However, the prominence has also spread to adjoining Indian states including Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, etc. Lord Jagannath is also worshiped by the Hindus of Bangladesh.
The Jagannath Temple at Puri in Odisha is the most prominent temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath and is one of the four Char Dham's pilgrimage sites which are extremely holy to Hindus. This temple is also famous for its annual Ratha Yatra festival in which three principal deities of Jagannathism are pulled on huge decorated temple cars.
